Questions and answers about chipboard panels
Frequently asked questions about chipboard panels are answered below. You can also find more FAQs under the Star Favorit panels from Fundermax.
The main difference is the core paper layers between the particleboard and the decor paper. Due to these additional core paper layers, the Superfront has a more robust surface structure than the StarFavorit and can therefore withstand higher stresses.
FunderMax Star Favorit Superfront are coated chipboard panels manufactured using the direct coating process. The double-sided coating in thicknesses of approx. 0.5mm (Superfront 0.5) and 0.8mm (Superfront 1.0) has the same structure as a laminate panel. The difference to an HPL laminate is in the manufacturing process. In Star Favorit Superfront, the coating is applied in a single operation. Depending on the surface finish of the coating, the technical values as well as the usage properties meet the requirements of EN 438-3 for laminated panels.

Star Favorit Superfront panels in the P3, P5 and P7 classifications are waterproof glued and are therefore ideal for damp areas. Numerous available decors and surfaces further expand the design possibilities.
The classification in accordance with DIN EN 312 is based on strength and moisture resistance. A distinction is made between classes P1 to P7. Star Favorit Superfront panels from Fundermax are available with the classifications P2, P5 and in the fire protection class B1.
The chipboard panel classification provides information about its strength, among other things. This shows whether or not a product can be used as a load-bearing component. Chipboard panels in classes P1 to P3 have no load-bearing properties, while panels in classes P4 and P5 are suitable as load-bearing components. Chipboard panels with the classification P6 and P7 are considered to be particularly resilient.
