Dietschibergbahn valley station

The versatile design possibilities with our products are one of our strengths. This is best demonstrated when great ideas are realised with the right choice of materials, resulting in impressive new objects. One of these is the valley station of the Dietschiberg cable car in Luzern.

The valley station is located in the Swiss canton of Luzern, more precisely in the cantonal town of the same name. Designed by Swiss architect Emil Vogt, it has graced the eastern edge of the city since 1900 and was in active use until 1978. After that, it fell into disrepair and its slow decay was only a reminder of the time when the hills and mountains around Luzern were being developed.

In 2016, the architects at Scheitlin Syfrig Architekten AG breathed new life into the "old" contemporary witness. The valley station was converted into a residential building, whereby the existing façades were retained and the charm of the past was preserved in the best possible way. The interior also pays homage to the Dietschiberg railway and the rooms were designed along the lines of the former railway.

And our products also accompanied the rebirth of the historic mountain conveyor, because the architects found the right material for the realisation of the new direction of the building in our Fundermax panels and processed STAR FAVORIT with M001 aluminium decor.

For the redesign and conversion of the historic valley station of the Dietschiberg cable car into a comfortable, modern residential building, the architectural firm Scheitlin Syfrig Architekten AG has received several awards - and rightly so, in our opinion!
